Mission Statement

I try to teach my students that each child is a unique child of God.  God has given each student special gifts and talents.  We, as a class, must appreciate and develop the talents God has given each student.  My goal is to help each child with this development.  Also, as a class we must appreciate and maximize the talents each individual has.

As we live together in our classroom, I hope that we appreciate how much we are alike and yet how different.  I hope that I can lead them by example.  I try to help the class appreciate themselves and their peers but most of all to appreciate the great and awesome God, who has created each of us and the world around us.  I Peter 4:10 says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in various forms.”

 Faith and Learning Statement

In Bible, we learn to appreciate God’s gift of the Bible.  We study it to understand it more clearly and also memorize passages.  Some of us can memorize more quickly so we try to help one another.  We also attempt to integrate the promises and truths of the Bible into our lives.

In Reading , again we have different talents.  Some can read more smoothly and some have a quick understanding of concepts such as sequencing, cause/effect, etc.  We practice oral reading and we learn the concepts together.

In Language, we do some of our exercises together so that in hearing others, we can better understand about nouns, verbs, topic and supporting sentences, etc.  Hopefully, by understanding English we can better express ourselves as children of God now and in the future.

In Math, we see the patterns in the numbers as well as the patterns in the world God has created.

In Science, we study cells, body systems, plants, rocks and minerals, insects and structures.  In all these areas, we study the world God has created.

In Social Studies, we see the uniqueness of past cultures.  As we study the explorers, we see how God has directed them in their explorations.  As we study the native Indians, we learn about the Indian beliefs.  As we go through colonization and the independence of the United States , we have a better understanding of why our country has certain beliefs and how God is at work through each unique generation.
